Happy Father's Day, Lefty. Hope you have a wonderful day.....with all the doors closed and the lights off as they should be.
Called my Dad. Watched the golf. Fell asleep. Woke up, watched some of the rebroadcast of METS V RUDY GIULIANI'S GIRLS got upset when score hit 6-0. How depressing to open series beating Clemens with Perez and then losing the easy ones. Switched to HBO+(Panama) and watched Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren. Worked. IM'd with friend. Fell back asleep sad because my ex did not have my 7-year old son call me.
I love the name of your blog, and I come here by way of Pickled Beef. I mentioned this on my own blog, but don't the Devil Rays this year remind you of the 1990 Braves. Best young starting foursome in baseball easily in Kazmir, Shields, Sonnastine and Corcoran. All the young hitting you could want. They're going to play out the string, not overwork any of the good pitchers which is why we're seeing so much of Fossum and Jackson. Next year. Va-va-va-voom.
Something is also telling me that the Pirates are going to win the NL CENTRAL this year. They are only 8 out and no one has played good with the possible exception of Salomon Torres of all people. None of the other teams in the division are anything special, si o no?
Some new terminology baseball could use which would enhance everyone's enjoyment of the game as "walk-off home-run" has gotten really stale: (from Baseball Prospectus) Outfield assists should be called "baserunner kills," (from cricket) late-inning defensive replacements should be called "night watchmen," (from me) extras bases taken on outs which aren't sac bunts or sac flies should be called "bases pinched".
